Veteran Disability Exams
Every veteran with a service-related disability faces multiple hardships. Adjusting to life with what might be a crippling medical condition is not the only thing a veteran and his or her loved ones must deal with. Sometimes, jumping through all the required hoops in order to make a disability claim can be extremely burdensome, as well. For example, if you have a medical condition being considered for a Veterans Affairs (VA) or Department of Defense (DoD) disability, you may need to have a VA-approved physician assess and report the severity of your condition.
What is a C&P Exam?
At First Class Wellness Center in Jacksonville and Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, we provide veteran disability exams, which are also called compensation and pension (C&P) exams. The C&P exam is the first step of the disability claims process to determine whether you have a service-connected disability, the severity of the disability, and to assign a disability rating for it. The exam may also be used to assess the continued existence or severity of a disability.
During your C&P exam, a current and complete list of your symptoms will be documented and a disability benefits questionnaire (DBQ) completed for your specific condition. It may be helpful to bring a loved one or family member with you to the exam who can attest to the symptoms that impact your daily life. It can be beneficial to have a First Class Wellness Center provider who is already familiar with you and your health issues perform your C&P exam.
